The Granola You'll Want Before Every Practice

Everyone needs to charge up for practice, and one of the best ways to do so is with pre-workout carbs that you eat one to four hours before exercising.

So, without further ado, we found the single yummiest granola recipe to help you get those healthy carbs. Not only is it easy to make, but it’s also easy to throw in a baggy to eat in the car (just in case those 4 A.M. practices leave little time for a sit-down breakfast)!

The granola can store for up to a month, so you’re set with a healthy snack whether you’re eating it on-the-go or on top of some yogurt. I should add a disclaimer though – I’ve never been able to keep my friends and family from finishing it all in just a few days!

Granola Bowl

So are you hungry for the recipe yet?!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut chips (large)
  • 1 1/2 cup nuts, such as pecans or walnuts
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • dried cranberries, optional

Instructions:

Mix all nuts, seeds, brown sugar, salt, coconut flakes. Whisk together the oil and syrup. Combine these wet and dry ingredients and mix well. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Add optional dried cranberries after baking. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a month.

*If you want to make the recipe a bit healthier, you can use 2 tbsp less olive oil. I’ve found that it still tastes just as delicious!
